چکیده
MOJ Clin Med Case Rep 2017, 6(6): 00180 We present a 75-year-old woman with no medical follow up for several years who developed progressively worsening shortness of breath with associated orthopnea and weight loss over the past year. Additionally, she reported leg heaviness, abdominal distention, subjective fevers, dry cough and a poor appetite. She denied any drenching night sweats. Her past medical history was notable solely for chronic anemia and alcohol dependence. She had not been taking any medications prior to admission. Her family history was significant for a mother with anemia. The patient was an active smoker, with a 35-40 pack-year smoking history.

Correlation between low T3 syndrome and mortality rate in patients with systolic heart failure
Introduction: This study was performed to evaluate the prevalence of low T3 syndrome among patients with heart failure and to assess the correlation between decreased level of tri iodothyronin (T3) with mortality rate. Methods: In a prospective cross-sectional study, 91 patients with systolic heart failure were admitted to Mohammadi hospital in Bandar Abbas in 2008.Thyroid function test w...
متن کاملCLINICAL SCIENCES Hyperviscosity-Related Retinopathy in Waldenström Macroglobulinemia
Methods: Patients with WM were evaluated using indirect ophthalmoscopy with scleral depression, laser Doppler retinal blood flow measurements, and serum IgM and SV determinations. Hemodynamic findings were compared with those of a group of age-matched controls. A retinopathy severity scale was developed, and the associated IgM and SV values were related to particular morphologic changes.
متن کاملRituximab for treatment of rheumatoid hyperviscosity syndrome: Pulmonary arterial hypertension and post- partum cardiomyopathy cases
Hyperviscosity syndrome (HVS) is a rare manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis with few reported cases. Although plasmapheresis is effective as the first line treatment in life threatening manifestations such as pulmonary hypertension, stroke, retinal hemorrhages and congestive heart failure, data on effective maintenance immunosuppressive therapy is lacking. HVS is characterized by abnormal imm...
متن کاملHigh-Output Heart Failure Due to an Iliac Arterio-Venous Fistula in Mycotic Aneurysm
Herein, we report a patient with arterio-venous fistula secondary to mycotic aneurysm, causing high output heart failure. The patient had one-year history of refractory heart failure and recurrent pulmonary edema. This presentation is a good example of curative surgically treatable cause of high-output congestive heart failure.Iran J Med Sci 2005; 30(1): 41-44. Keywords ● Arterio-venous fistula...
متن کاملFatal cerebral hemorrhage in a patient with CD19-positive IgM-producing aggressive plasma cell myeloma, hyperviscosity syndrome and cryoglobulinemia.
IgM plasma cell myeloma (PCM) is a rare entity, and CD19 positivity is found in only 1-4% of PCM. Here we report a unique case of IgM PCM, in which the plasma cells are positive for CD19. Clinically, the patient presented with hyperviscosity syndrome, mimicking the clinical manifestation of Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia. In addition, the IgM para-protein from the patient behaved like cryoglob...
